Klien reveals F1 ‘meetings’ about 2007

Red Bull refugee Christian Klien has revealed that he met with formula one team chiefs during his visit to the recent Brazilian grand prix.

“It was a good weekend and I had very useful meetings with teams,” the Austrian said, amid speculation that he is in talks with Spyker and Honda about next year.

It is understood that Klien, 23, favours the Spyker negotiations, because the only opening at Honda is to test.

Despite turning down Red Bull’s offer of a funded Champ Car drive, Klien is also believed to consider the American series as ‘plan-c’.

He said after travelling to Sao Paulo: “There is a lot of rumour and speculation about the driving opportunities for 2007, so it is useful to know what my role is in their plans.

“I am excited by the things (the F1 teams) told me, and I am going to be working hard to finalise the best opportunity in the coming weeks.”

Reports indicate that Klien is hoping to clarify his future as soon as the start of November.
