Kubica may leave Renault after Genii buyout

Dec.16 (GMM) Robert Kubica’s manager has cast doubt on whether the Pole will actually race with the Renault team in 2010.

Last month it was reported that, amid Renault’s deliberations about its commitment to the sport, the 24-year-old was being courted by Mercedes.

The French carmaker Renault said on Wednesday it is staying in formula one, but a “large stake” of the Enstone based outfit has been bought by Genii Capital.

Kubica was not mentioned in Wednesday’s official team statement.

Asked about the takeover, his manager Daniele Morelli told BBC Sport: “It’s a positive reaction but we have asked for more information.”

He explained that it is “not automatic” that the Genii buyout, with Renault retaining a stake and the naming rights 2010, means Kubica will definitely race a Renault next March.
