Jun.26 (GMM) Liam Lawson has brushed aside growing speculation that he could lose his Racing Bulls seat at the end of the season.

Reports over recent days have increasingly linked Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov with a 2027 promotion, with the Bulgarian tipped to partner Arvid Lindblad as Red Bull’s latest new generation takes shape.

Swiss journalist Roger Benoit, writing for Blick, believes Tsolov is firmly in the frame.

“With the protege of (Fernando) Alonso, they have a good in-house alternative,” he wrote.

However, no decision appears to have been finalised.

Asked about the speculation on Thursday at the Red Bull Ring, Lawson insisted his focus remains on the current season.

“It’s too early to start talking about these things,” he said.

“To be honest, I’m happy with everything right now, everyone in the team is in a good mood. The season has been positive for me so far, and I’m really enjoying it.

“Obviously, there’s a lot to learn with these cars, and we’re working on that every weekend. We’ve got good pace and we’re trying to maintain it.”

The New Zealander believes a full season of Formula 1 experience has made him “stronger and better,” after his disastrous two-race stint as Max Verstappen’s teammate early last year.

“My arrival in Formula 1 wasn’t easy, there were a lot of challenges, but now that a full season is behind me, I feel very comfortable.

“I’ve learned a lot over the last 12 months, and everything is going well at the moment.”
