Light rain limits action in Barcelona

Spots of rain touched down at the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday morning as the first test of the post-season period in 2006 raced on.

Rookie racer Lewis Hamilton’s problems continued, with his McLaren hauled back to the pits on the back of a truck. A mechanic was spotted hauling a loose and damaged wheel into the garage. Williams’ Alex Wurz – sporting a plain black carbon fibre helmet – also ran into technical trouble.

Toro Rosso’s Vitantonio Liuzzi also wore an unpainted helmet.

Christian Klien made his debut as an official test driver for Honda, and marked the end of his affiliation with Red Bull by unveiling a new helmet design in black, white and grey with orange flashes.

Japan’s Kamui Kobayashi was on track for Toyota, but morning mileage was generally limited due to the cold conditions and spots of rain.
