Nov.23 (GMM) Contrary to reports elsewhere, Vitantonio Liuzzi’s seat at HRT for 2012 does not appear safe.

Pedro de la Rosa has been confirmed as one definite driver for 2012, moving some commentators to surmise that because Italian Liuzzi apparently has an existing contract, he will complete the Spanish team’s lineup.

But in Abu Dhabi recently, the 30-year-old answered only “I believe so” when asked if he will still be racing a HRT in 2012.

We reported this week that young Spaniard Dani Clos or a driver appointed by Red Bull are also candidates.

Grandprixactual.com claims that a decision will be made as early as next week, with Adrian Sutil and Giedo van der Garde reportedly also in the running.

“Money will have an important role,” said the report, explaining that because de la Rosa can not offer many sponsors, HRT has “put a price” on the second cockpit.

Even de la Rosa confirmed on Tuesday to Spanish website caranddriverthef1.com that a decision on his 2012 teammate has not been taken.

“Who fills the position is not my decision and I will have no influence on it,” said the Spaniard.
