Felipe Massa says he earned the “respect” of the Ferrari team in the second half of last year.

The Brazilian has been singled out as a real rival for his highly rated teammate Kimi Raikkonen in 2007, and to the newspaper ‘O Estado de Sao Paolo’ he admitted that he feels respected by the Maranello based camp.

“From the middle of last year I could really feel that I was earning their respect,” 25-year-old Massa said, “and that they really listen to what I am saying.

“I really started getting fully involved in the development process and at the moment I am feeling really comfortable.

“I see this as a really good moment for me.”

Massa said he learned a lot last year from his former teammate Michael Schumacher.

He continued: “Now I feel like an important part of the team. Michael did an incredible job in all areas, he is the most complete driver I have ever known and I tried to learn as much as I could from him.”
