Massa promises to play fair

Felipe Massa promised at Sao Paulo to play fair, despite pledging to help teammate Michael Schumacher to win a final championship crown.

“I am going to be honest,” said the Brazilian, at his first home grand prix at Interlagos as a Ferrari driver.

The only way Schumacher, 37, can snatch the drivers’ title is if he wins the race on Sunday and Fernando Alonso fails to finish.

Massa, admitting that he can only eye victory for himself if Alonso runs into trouble, insisted: “I am not going to be dirty. I don’t want to do that at all. I will only help Michael in the right way.

“There will be no dirty tricks.”
