Ferrari’s troubled week of testing only worsened on Thursday.

With bad weather continuing to spoil the Italian squad’s plans, we can reveal that Felipe Massa, in the new F2007, stopped at the Vallelunga circuit’s ‘Trincea’ corner after hearing an odd noise from the engine.

The car was towed back to the pits to have a fresh V8 fitted.

Kimi Raikkonen, meanwhile, spun his 2006-spec car under braking for the ‘Curva del Semaforo’, hitting the gravel and damaging the left-front suspension and front wing.

The pair continue at the northern Roman track on Friday.
