McLaren-Mercedes was disappointed with the cooperation with departed team driver Juan Pablo Montoya, according to Norbert Haug.
Haug, who is competition director for German marque Mercedes, told Bild am Sonntag that the silver team ‘imagined a different result’ from the decision to pluck the feisty Colombian from Williams two years ago.
”In terms of sporting success, there were some high-points,” the German told the newspaper, ”but unfortunately also the opposite was true.
”We would have very happily won the constructors’ championship last year, but we lost it after a few points were unnecessarily given away.”
Haug’s comments, although team boss Ron Dennis recently protested to the contrary, make it very unlikely that 30-year-old Montoya will return to the wheel of his car in 2006. gmmf1dailyf1news.com
