McLaren don’t covet Alonso’s No.1

Ron Dennis has denied reports that he will overtly support Renault driver Fernando Alonso’s championship quest in the last two races of 2006 because the Spaniard would bring the coveted ‘number one’ to McLaren next year.

”I’m not concerned about (that),” the Woking based team’s principal said at Suzuka.

”I just think Fernando’s done a better job this year and deserves to win.

”This is definitely a championship that could go either way, but I’d still put my money on Alonso,” the Briton said.
