McLaren may test on Spanish island

McLaren could start using the Spanish island of Minorca as a private test venue, according to reports.

As the English Elvington Airfield is reducing its availability for local teams to conduct so-called straight-line tests, the local ‘Diario de Menorca’ said a private airport on the small Mediterranean Sea island has already been approved by Woking-based McLaren as an alternative.

Minorca, not far from the more famous Majorca, has a population of 80,000.
