Lewis Hamilton will not make his formula one debut at the season ending Brazilian grand prix after McLaren confirmed on Friday that Pedro de la Rosa is to retain the seat.

“I am looking forward to getting back on track and working with the team to finish the year on a high,” the 35-year-old Spaniard said.

The news is despite GP2 champion Hamilton’s outpacing of de la Rosa on McLaren’s second day of testing at Jerez on Thursday.
