McLaren verdict in

The World Motorsports Council has spoken: McLaren has been thrown out of the constructors’ championship, having been stripped of all constructors’ points. In a controversial move, however, the drivers have retained their points and are allowed to carry on fighting for the championship.

McLaren was also hit with a massive US$100 million fine – a new record for the highest fine ever meted out in the sport.

Quite why the drivers are being allowed to carry on championship despite the fact that they, too, had benefited (and are stil, benefiting) from the industrial espionage is still not clear. It doesn’t exactly make for a fair fight, does it?
