Mixed day for Red Bull

Sat, 25 February 2006, 01:13

It was a day of highs and lows for Red Bull Racing on the final pre-season session at this circuit. Christian Klien started off with some set up work in the morning before carrying out a simulation of the new one hour qualifying procedure.

It went very well and our Austrian was the quickest man on track for much of the day. Next came a run through of all the pre-race procedures that take place on the grid and then it was time for the actual race simulation. Unfortunately, an engine problem brought this to an early close after a handful of laps. But at least the earlier laps proved that RB2 can produce some quick times.

David Coulthard also had a problem, but this was more biological than mechanical, as he woke up with a trapped nerve in his back. Some physio work and the Scotsman went out for an exploratory run, but after just four laps, the pain meant he was forced to call it a day.

Robert Doornbos arrived at the end of the day and took over DC’s car to practice pit stops. The team will now tackle a further couple of days testing in Valencia next week.
