New chief designer for BMW Sauber

BMW-Sauber on Monday announced a replacement for former chief designer Jorg Zander.

39-year-old Swiss Christoph Zimmermann, already head of composite design at the team, will be responsible for the design of the race car as of 1 January 2008 and report to technical director Willy Rampf, the Hinwil based team said in a statement.

“In keeping with our philosophy, we will also replace him internally,” team principal Mario Theissen revealed.
