New Ferrari ‘looks quick’ – Schumacher

Michael Schumacher on Tuesday said he expects Ferrari’s newly launched 2008 car to be fully competitive this year.

The German and retired seven time world champion was among the bystanders in the chilly Fiorano pit garage on Monday as world champion Kimi Raikkonen put the first 55 laps on the F2008’s odometer.

The Finn’s best time of 60.897, set on wet Bridgestones and in damp conditions, was not representative, but 38-year-old Schumacher observed that the car nonetheless appeared quick.

“The first laps of a new Ferrari is always a special moment,” he said.

“My first impression of this one is very good — the car looks beautiful, but also visually quick.

“Let’s see now if the first impressions are confirmed,” Schumacher added.
