A wave of young chargers is on the verge of stealing formula one race seats from experienced veterans, according to a team principal.
Honda’s Nick Fry is quoted by the newspaper ‘USA Today’ as saying the pinnacle of motor sport “needs” its new injection of youth.
“We’ve got that with Lewis (Hamilton), (Robert) Kubica and (Heikki) Kovalainen,” the Briton said, after giving young American Marco Andretti his first taste of F1 power with a pre-Christmas test.
In addition to Fry’s aforementioned three, youngsters including Sebastian Vettel, Nelson Piquet Jr and Bruno Senna are also tipped to be among rookies lining up on the formula one grid of the near future.
Fry added: “There’s a number of drivers in F1 who have been there a long time and I wouldn’t anticipate that a number of them are going to be there much longer.”
