New livery for Renault

Renault has confirmed that light blue will not be a part of its formula one livery in 2007 and beyond.

Despite winning the constructors’ and drivers’ titles for the past two years with the colour, the departure of title sponsor Japan Tobacco – and with it the Mild Seven cigarette brand – has now consigned blue Renaults to the museum at Viry-Chatillon.

“(Mild Seven’s) departure means that the distinctive light blue (livery) will leave the sport with them,” a Renault document on Thursday read, “to be replaced by ING Group.”

The document did not confirm a replacement for Mild Seven’s blue, but the Dutch bank ING’s corporate colours are orange and navy blue.
