Giancarlo Fisichella is pleased with his new formula one car for 2007, according to Spanish reports.

The Roman, who turned 34 earlier this month and will this season lead the Renault team in the absence of world champion Fernando Alonso, is quoted by ‘Diario As’ as enthusing about the R27.

“The new car is going very well and at the moment we are very strong,” he told the newspaper.

Alongside rookie teammate Heikki Kovalainen at Valencia on Thursday, the pair successfully simulated a grand prix, including race starts and pit stops.

They were second and third on the time sheet.
