Newey says new Red Bull to resemble McLaren

Adrian Newey has admitted that his first Red Bull, to be unveiled at Barcelona on Friday, is a continuation of his work at McLaren.

“You will see some elements of the last McLaren that I designed,” the Briton, albeit describing the ‘RB3’ as an evolution rather than radical, revealed to motorline.cc.

He added: “In other areas you will see things that resulted from the experience of the Red Bull team, and you will see some new and fresh ideas as well.”

Expectations are high for Newey’s Renault powered machine, but he suggested that it might initially lag the field in the area of aerodynamics.

Newey said: “We began the wind tunnel tests quite late because we first wanted to calibrate it properly.”
