F1’s governing body may sanction night racing only if it is first tested in a junior category.
FIA president Max Mosley is believed to have had GP2 or the Renault World Series in mind when he told the Italian magazine Autosprint that floodlit races are not likely to debut at the very pinnacle of motor sport.
“My suspicion is that we would want to see how it goes with another category before we committed to it for the world championship,” Mosley said.
Meanwhile, in Monaco, the Briton had warned: “We will not sanction night racing if it does not fulfil all of the safety conditions.”
