No F1 car for Alonso’s Santander demo

Contrary to previous reports, world champion Fernando Alonso will not drive his formula one McLaren on the streets of Spanish city Santander this Saturday.

The EFE news agency clarified that, as the Woking based team’s banking sponsor Santander marks its 150th anniversary, 25-year-old Alonso will simply drive a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG road car.

Other Spanish reports add that Alonso will travel directly from the event to Australia, ahead of next Sunday’s formula one season opener.
