No fourth day for wet Silverstone test

Rain is likely to affect all three days of this week’s major formula one group test at Silverstone in rural England.

Local forecasts predict the heaviest rain on Thursday, but dark clouds will surely also greet nine of the sport’s eleven teams as they start running on the former World War II airfield on Tuesday morning.

Unlike at the other wet tests this year, however, the Silverstone session will not simply be extended for a fourth day due to rain.

The teams have provisionally agreed to scrap the fourth-day proviso for the upcoming Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps sessions, and the test agreement next year will definitively limit each group test to three days, irrespective of the weather.
