Toyota does not currently plan to unveil a ‘B’ version of its TF107 car later this year.
But technical chief Pascal Vasselon told sport1.de: “That doesn’t mean we will not build one if we consider it to be necessary.”
The Japanese giant has had another lacklustre winter off-season, but Vasselon refused to bolster the doomsayers who reckon Toyota could be the least competitive works team on the streets of Melbourne this weekend.
The Frenchman added: “We were also not impressive during the tests in 2005 but we had a good start to the season.
“It is wrong to interpret testing times as though they are time sheets from a race weekend. We are still counting on having a good season and it is too early to lose our optimism.”
