Aug.20 (GMM) Karun Chandhok will not be returning to the wheel of the HRT car at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend.
The Indian rookie has sat out the last two races in deference to Sakon Yamamoto, who is rumoured to wield more powerful personal sponsorship.
But Chandhok, 26, held out hope that his sojourn might soon be ending when he recently attended the Hungarian grand prix.
“The long summer break is coming up and we’ll have to see what happens for the rest of the season,” he said last month.
A spokesperson said at the time that the driver lineup for Spa-Francorchamps and beyond is not finalised.
But on Friday, HRT announced that Japanese Yamamoto will once again be Bruno Senna’s teammate next weekend in Belgium.
Yamamoto is not a newcomer to Spa with F1 machinery, having contested the 2007 event for Colin Kolles-led Spyker.
