No testing times for Schu

Ross Brawn played down expectations that retiring race driver Michael Schumacher could continue next year and beyond as a regular Ferrari test pilot.

The team’s English technical director told reporters in Shanghai that Schumacher, 37, is more likely to assume a role combining unspecified ‘ambassadorial’ and ‘technical’ duties.

But Ferrari’s chief race engineer Luca Baldisserri told Italian newspapers earlier this month that he hoped the German driver would continue to test.

However, Brawn said: ”I don’t know if Michael wants to maintain that level of fitness when he stops.

”If you’re not training all the time, you’ll struggle — and Michael understands that. I am not sure that it is what he wants to do.”
