Silverstone based F1 team Spyker will not have a title sponsor in 2007, despite recent reports that it was in talks with DHL and the Dutch beer brewer Heineken.
“To get a title sponsor on board is our plan for 2008,” major shareholder and team director Michiel Mol said.
“We are still talking to a number of potential big sponsors but we’ve covered the budget for this year.”
Mol said the goal for this year is to prove that Spyker, previously owned by the Midland Group and in 2004 by Eddie Jordan, is a “serious” independent team.
He added: “Big multinationals do not get in just for the fun.
“We are more or less the only team left without a title sponsor, so I hope we can get into a situation where we can make maximum use of that.”
