Pirelli published exciting statistics

For the first time in history, Pirelli published whole season`s statistics about pit-stops and tyres usage in 2012.

In this year`s campaign drivers did 1139 overtaking maneuvers and visited pit-stops 957 times what includes 16 drive-through penalties. Average pit-stop count for a single race was 47,9 which means that every driver had about two pit-stops during every race.

Race with highest count of pit-stops was Malaysia (76), contrary to USA with only 24 pit-stops. The fastest crew was McLaren in German Grand Prix where it managed to change Jenson Button`s tyres in 2,31 sec.

Interesting are statistics about tyre usage in this season. Overall drivers used 31 800 tyres – 22 500 for dry conditions, 2700 intermediates and 6600 wet tyres.

Pirelli has a contract with Formula 1 for next season and company wants to know FIA decision about next years until mid of 2013 year.
