Lewis Hamilton on Wednesday continued to ride the crest of his Silverstone victory by setting the pace for the second consecutive day at Hockenheim.

As on Tuesday, the 23-year-old McLaren driver was the quickest of the 12 runners in action, as all ten formula one teams test at the scene of next weekend’s German grand prix.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, four tenths slower on Wednesday, and a similar distance behind after the damp opening day of running, said he was “reasonably satisfied” with his test.

“The speed isn’t lacking,” the Finn said, “but sometimes, we haven’t managed to put together all the elements and have not succeeded in exploiting all the potential at our disposal.”

To reporters, the reigning world champion insists that Ferrari cannot be written off, despite its poor all-round performance at Silverstone last weekend.

“We haven’t lost any speed — we just need a good clean weekend,” Raikkonen insisted.
