Rain fails to lift Fernando

Title challenger Fernando Alonso did not get excited despite the downpour at Suzuka on Thursday afternoon.

On a wet track, the Renault driver is likely to enjoy an advantage over Bridgestone-shod rival Michael Schumacher at the scene of the Japanese grand prix.

But, at the same time as continuing his attack on team officials and teammate Giancarlo Fisichella, he told reporters on Thursday: ”I think we are competitive in wet, we are competitive in dry.

”Probably a dry race would be better for everybody.”
