Ralf predicts ‘more passing’ in 2007

Ralf Schumacher has contradicted F1 rival Felipe Massa’s recent claim that overtaking will be harder with a single tyre supplier in 2007.

Ferrari’s Massa recently said the harder compounds in use at the Barcelona and Jerez tests made him drive more carefully.

“These tyres make you less aggressive, so it is not going to help passing,” the Brazilian predicted.

Toyota racer Schumacher, however, agreed that the control Bridgestones provide less grip but said it could lead to “more action”.

“I am convinced the cars will slide more since the grip levels are lower than in the past,” the German, 31, said.

“In theory, this should lead to more overtaking manoeuvres, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
