Ralf targets maiden Toyota win in 2007

Ralf Schumacher says Toyota’s objective for 2007 is to finally win a race.

The German tested for the Cologne based team as pre-season running kicked off in Barcelona last week, and alongside teammate Jarno Trulli the pair set the best times of the entire test whilst running alone on Friday.

“Everything has been a little bit easier than I was expecting because I expected the new tyres to be a lot harder to drive,” 31-year-old Schumacher said.

Ralf admitted that he was disappointed that the 2006 car could not collect the Japanese carmaker’s first formula one win this year. Toyota made its formula one debut in 2002.

He said: “On the other hand, we were rather competitive occasionally, but failed to make perfect use of this competitiveness.

“Now we have one more year of experience under our belt, so I’m confident that we will succeed in securing our maiden win in 2007.”

Schumacher won six races with Williams and then joined Toyota in 2005.
