RBR testers to sit out Friday running

Robert Doornbos and Michael Ammermuller are unlikely to appear for Red Bull on the Fridays of grand prix weekends.

The pair have been confirmed as the Austrian squad’s test lineup for 2007, but the scrapping of the rule allowing a third car on the opening day of practice has moved boss Christian Horner to effectively rule out taking a BMW-style approach to the Friday format.

“With the tighter restrictions on testing we want to give our race drivers as much time on the race circuits as possible,” Auto Motor und Sport quoted Horner as saying.

Ammermuller, 20, will combine his F1 role with GP2 in 2007, and Doornbos is tipped to race in the Champ Car series.
