David Coulthard has revised his goals for the 2007 season, predicting that fifth place for Red Bull in the constructors’ championship is “realistic”.
“At the moment we’re not going to achieve the goals I had for the year,” the Scot, currently in Bahrain for the final test of the 2007 pre-season, told F1’s official website.
The Adrian Newey-penned ‘RB3’ car has proved a disappointment of the winter period, after languishing near the bottom of the daily time sheets and regularly breaking down.
35-year-old Coulthard suggested that Milton Keynes based Red Bull has not yet got “the right mix” of “technical investment and facilities”.
He added: “That’s what we need to continue to develop at Red Bull and then the results will come.”
