Red Bull announces engine strategy

Wed, 1 November 2006, 07:59

Since Red Bull signed an engine deal with Renault some months ago, and Ferrari’s prompt announcement that they still have a signed engine deal with the team, pundits have been waiting to hear exactly what power the Red Bull Racing team will use next year. It was Red Bull’s intention to use their Ferrari engine supply for their Toro Rosso team, opening up Red Bull Racing’s cars for Renault power. Ferrari was not immediately amenable to this. Red Bull’s reasoning behind the move was, of course, the fact that Ferrari had been supplying them with engines that were some five percent down on power compared to the units nestled in the back of Ferrari’s own cars.

Red Bull has now announced that Scuderia Toro Rosso will indeed be furnished with Ferrari engines, while Red Bull Racing will be motivated by Renault mills.
