Renault on Friday confirmed reports that the championship winning team will launch its 2007 in Dutch capital Amsterdam.

The ‘R27’, which according to technical director Bob Bell was successfully FIA crash-tested this week, will be launched on 24 January, a statement said.

Prior to the official unveiling, however, the car will actually test for the first time at Jerez on the sixteenth of the month.

The Dutch launch, to take place at an industrial exhibition space in the Oostenburg region, was chosen to mark new sponsor ING’s “arrival in the sport as title partner of the reigning formula one world champions”, French squad Renault added.

Bell, playing down the fact that the current hybrid car has failed to top a time sheet in pre-season testing so far, commented: “Compared to the design of the (2006) R26, we are definitely ahead of the game at this stage.”
