Renault to test new car in temporary livery

Renault will use a never-before-seen interim livery for the pre-launch tests of its new ‘R27’ car, we have learned.

Following Wednesday’s news of a private shakedown for the single seater at Silverstone this week, it has emerged that the car will not be painted in either the 2006 colours or the new ING-inspired livery for 2007.

A Renault source explained that the third-livery strategy was devised so as to keep the Enstone based team’s new colours – probably featuring dark blue and orange – under wraps until the official unveiling in Amsterdam.

Using the familiar yellow and light blue colours, meanwhile, would also not be appropriate given that the former cigarette sponsor Mild Seven has now left the French squad.
