In the second free practise session for the Grand-Prix of Japan Toyota’s Ricardo Zonta set the fastest time. Zonta was more then a second quicker then Michael Schumacher and Pedro de la Rosa.
After 30 minuts rain started to come down. Some teams tested rain tyres.
The only driver with a problem was Tonio Liuzzi, his car stopped before the last chicane when his car stopped with a mechanical problem.
