Rubens ‘happy’ with Honda equality

Honda’s Rubens Barrichello says he is relieved that his days as a ‘number two’ formula one driver are over.

For six years until 2005, the Brazilian played second fiddle alongside Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, where the most famous side-effect of his lesser role was – in 2002 – a relinquished win in the Austrian grand prix.

”I feel extremely happy that I don’t have to be the ‘water carrier’ any longer,” he was quoted as saying by ‘Bild’ newspaper in Germany, in an article speculating as to why he might now be finally getting the upper hand on teammate Jenson Button.

Barrichello said: ”At Honda, there is no ‘number one’ driver.”
