Takuma Sato can’t wait to finally get his hands on Super Aguri’s new car.
The Japanese, and his 2006 teammates, have struggled with the uncompetitive ‘SA05′ so far this year — Arrows’ 2002 racer that was cobbled together to conform to today’s rules.
But the ‘SA06’ – still based on the Arrows but substantially revised – will be rolled out with a Silverstone ‘shakedown’ in the coming days, before its race debut at Hockenheim.
”This is a very exciting moment,” said Sato, although warning that the German grand prix in a fortnight will not be a silver bullet for the fledgling Japanese team.
Sato said: ”This is not the complete package, which we will get for the Turkish grand prix.
”But it will be major step to take us to the next level and I think it will bring us to a very similar level of performance to the Midlands.”
