Michael Schumacher is ready to put the controversy of Monaco behind him by setting the pace at Silverstone.
The Ferrari driver emerged atop last week’s preparatory test at Barcelona, but is widely tipped to face a tough challenge for British grand prix victory by the perfectly-suited Renaults.
”I must say, everything looked very positive (at the test),” 37-year-old Schumacher, who rode a Harley-Davidson to the MotoGP race in Italy at the weekend, said on Monday.
”We should look good at Silverstone and be able to fight for the win. That is certainly the goal.”
The German is now 21 points behind championship leader Fernando Alonso, but he insists he is ‘absolutely’ still in the fight.
Schumacher said: ”It is all about who can develop the quickest. In my eyes this is the crucial factor, and in this area we usually do well.”
