It is reported in the German press that Schumacher, the 37-year-old Ferrari driver, is nominated for the latest ‘goal of the month’ plaudit, which is handed out by the ‘Westdeutsche Rundfunk’ (WDR) broadcaster.
Keen amateur player Schumacher’s goal, scored in a recent pre-German grand prix charity match in Mannheim, hit the back of the net after he dodged past two defenders.
Schumacher’s opponents for the monthly award are professional players, with the winner to be announced on Saturday.
