Michael Schumacher appears on the verge of a new two-year Ferrari deal, but it is rumoured that BMW tried to lure the seven time world champion on the promise of a record-breaking contract.
‘F1 Racing’ magazine in Britain reports this month that BMW-Sauber chiefs held recent talks with Schumacher’s manager, Willi Weber, about an 80m EUR per-year offer.
With merchandising income thrown in, it is suggested that the arrangement could have resulted in a mind-boggling ten figure sum finding its way into the 37-year-old’s bank account.
