Bruno Senna says he wants to be on the formula one grid by 2009.

The 23-year-old nephew of the sport’s late triple world champion – Ayrton Senna – told reporters at the Hockenheim circuit on Sunday that he will almost certainly race in the GP2 series next year.

Probably referring to Gerhard Berger, co-owner of the Toro Rosso team but also his uncle’s former McLaren teammate, Senna said: “I already have some contacts in formula one.

“Depending on how I go (in GP2), I want to be in F1 within two years,” Senna told ‘Bild’ newspaper, before crashing whilst guesting in the Porsche Carrera race at the DTM event.

And he said of Michael Schumacher: “If my uncle had not died, Schumacher would have won two titles less.

“Michael rarely had to drive right at the limit, but that would have been very different had Ayrton been there.”
