Spyker’s Valles wants third seat at Spain GP

Spyker’s rookie tester Adrian Valles says his “main objective” for 2007 is to drive on the Friday of the Spanish grand prix.

The 20-year-old qualified for his mandatory Super License at Valencia on Monday, but it is understood that the majority of the Friday action this season will be divided between Valles’ Spyker colleagues Giedo van der Garde and Fairuz Fauzy.

It is rumoured, however, that Markus Winkelhock could emerge in the Ferrari powered F8-VII for his home race at the Nurburgring, while Spaniard Valles admitted on Monday that he is also hoping for a ride at the Barcelona event.

“I am going to try my best to be the third driver in Spain,” Valles is quoted as saying by the newspaper Marca.

Alongside his F1 duties, Valles said he would also like to race in the DTM series this year.

“I want to stay sharp for racing,” he insisted, “in case (Spyker) wants me to be their official driver in 2008.”
