Stewards send Albers to rear of grid

Shanghai stewards have sent Spyker-MF1’s Christijan Albers to the back of the grid for ignoring an official call to the weighbridge.

The 27-year-old Dutchman qualified nineteenth, but because of Felipe Massa’s engine change penalty, was due to start the Chinese grand prix from 18th.

Stewards deleted his qualifying lap times.

It is understood that the stewards were also investigating Rubens Barrichello for allegedly impeding McLaren’s Pedro de la Rosa during qualifying, but the Brazilian – who qualified third – appears to have escaped sanction.
