Toro Rosso confirmed on Monday that Giorgio Ascanelli will travel to Malaysia this week as the Italian team’s newly appointed technical director.
The 48-year-old Italian replaces Alex Hitzinger, who has temporarily filled the role for the past few months.
“This appointment means that (Hitzinger) is now free to concentrate on his original role, heading up the Advanced Technologies Department for Red Bull Technology,” a statement read.
