STR to confirm Liuzzi, Speed on Tuesday

Gerhard Berger has given the strongest indication yet that Toro Rosso will feature an unchanged driver lineup in 2007.

The Faenza based team is the last in pit lane to reveal the names of its cockpit occupants, but the news will be made official as Toro Rosso stage a ‘press day’ – and probably the launch of its new STR2 car – in Barcelona on Tuesday.

Berger told Kicker magazine that Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed are almost certain to get the nod.

“We will confirm it in Barcelona,” he promised, “and probably nothing will change — so our drivers are called Liuzzi and Speed.

“There were several alternatives but we are concentrating on our current drivers,” Berger continued, adding that the partly Red Bull-owned team “cannot afford” to put a “superstar” at the wheel.

Toro Rosso, meanwhile, is unlikely to name a test driver for the 2007 season on Tuesday, Berger suggested.
