Montezemolo, having flown specifically from Italy for Friday’s meetings, is chairman of the F1 teams’ alliance FOTA and also president of Ferrari, who have threatened to quit the sport over the dispute with its governing body FIA

After speaking to an assembled scrum of media, the Italian was due to head straight from Flavio Briatore’s superyacht to the Automobile Club de Monaco, to present the FOTA position to Max Mosley

Asked if he was confident about the meeting with the FIA president, he answered: “We will see.”nn”We (the teams) are all together,” he said after the meeting on Force Blue, Briatore’s boat moored in the harbour of the Principality

“We will be in position to go to the chairman of FIA saying in a very constructive but very clear way the position of FOTA,” Montezemolo added, insisting that the proposition to Mosley will be final

He said: “What is important is that our (the teams’) view of the future is absolutely in common. We want formula one, we don’t want something else.”n
