The first free training on Friday at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi ended in a disappointment for Giedo van der Garde. The Caterham reservedriver was only out for three laps due to a technisch problem of the car.
Van der Garde: ,,The people of the team did everything they could to solve the problem and to get me back out as soon as possible, but unfortunately things didn’t work out. It’s really ashame, because I know the circuit here very well and i am feeling strong, fysicly and mentally. I really had big plans.”
Now the McGregor-coureur has to be patient for a few more days, since he will be back in action for two days during the young driver tests following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. ,,Believe me, I will show shome good stuff then for sure”, says Van der Garde, who has McGregor as his main sponsor.
